Tatou Floor Light by Patricia Urquiola for Flos is a series of lights with a design inspired by classic antique Japanese armour. The name 'Tatou' is French for armadillo - a creature with a leather protective shell and in the same way this lighting family is a model of resistance and strength whilst at the same time offering dynamism, lightness and flexibility. The 'shell' protects direct light to the eyes and produces a harmonic play on light and shadow through the perforated sections. This is made up of four identical elements which are all interwoven to form a unified dome shape which diffuses light both up and down. Tatou also comes in suspension - S1 (smaller version) and S2 (larger version) and table verison. Tatou T1 comes in three colours - Black, White or Ochre Grey. -
